Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s Shark Center to Open for Season on April 15
Special Exhibit “The Tide Falls” Commemorates Earth Month
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s Shark Center in Chatham will open for the season on Thursday, April 15.
The Shark Center offers visitors an in-depth look at great white sharks through interactive exhibits, videos and displays, as well as providing insight into groundbreaking species research.
“We look forward to safely welcoming back visitors to the Shark Center for what promises to be a very busy summer on Cape Cod,” said Heather Ware, Shark Center Manger, Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. “The Shark Center has been renovated over the winter to include additional exhibits to create awareness and inspire conversation about the natural history of white sharks in the region.”
In celebration of Earth Month, the Center will feature an exhibit from Cape-based artist Sarah Thornington which will run through May 22. The exhibition, entitled The Tide Falls, has been created to generate awareness of global marine and plastic pollution issues and is the culmination of one-year of daily beach clean-ups. It consists of photographs and artwork created entirely from the marine debris and objects rescued from the ocean during that time.
The Center will be open for general admission on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. through May 26th. Hours of operation will be expanded during high season. Admission is $10 per person and children five and under are free. Private tours are also available during designated hours at a cost of $85 per family.
Reservations are required, and can be made online at atlanticwhiteshark.org/sharkcenter.
To comply with COVID-19 safety protocols, there will be a limit of 20 visitors per each one-hour time slot. All guests must wear mask while visiting the Shark Center.
