The Gills Club is Atlantic White Shark Conservancy's STEM-based education initiative dedicated to connecting girls with female scientists from around the world, sharing knowledge, and inspiring the next generation of shark and ocean advocates.
With the motto “Smart About Sharks,” Gills Club members are provided with tools to educate their peers about sharks through hands-on learning opportunities at events. In addition to being a vehicle that will foster positive attitudes towards sharks, we want this group to jump-start girls’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects, boosting their chances of entering careers in science.
Gills Club Events
Attend one of Gills Club's monthly, free, in-person events! Through hands-on activities, youth will learn about researchers and their work, different shark species, and more. These events are targeted for youth in 2nd-5th grade and require all youth to have a guardian attend with them for the 90 minute program. This is not a drop-off program. These educational events are free, but due to capacity limits, do require registration. Please register each child individually, even if they're part of the same family/group.
